What it does, and what it doesn’t yet.

QRZ is young and says so. Everything below is the product; the four at the end are being built, and are marked so you can tell.

Short links with custom slugs
Pick the slug yourself, or take a generated one. Every scan is counted.
A real design step
Six module patterns, corner styles, gradients, a centre logo, and the quiet zone — all live as you change them.
Print-resolution export
PNG, JPEG, WEBP and SVG from 512 up to 4096px, sized for paper rather than screens.
An editable destination
Change where a printed code points, without reprinting anything. This is the whole reason the short link sits in the middle.
Frames with call-to-action text
A printed border around the code carrying its own instruction.
Coming soon
Passwords, expiry windows and scan limits
Plus routing by country, device, or time of day.

An analytics dashboard
Country, OS, browser, city and time, with CSV and XLSX export.

Free forever. Five codes, no card.

A free code is a real code: the full designer, every export format, and a destination you can change after it is printed. Paying lifts the ceiling — it does not unlock the product.

What happens at the free ceiling

Nothing you printed stops working. Past 50 scans a free code still resolves — it shows a short notice first, then sends the scanner on, and the counter stops climbing. Your poster keeps doing its job while you decide.

We will not disable a code you have already put into the world. That is the whole promise of the product, and a billing tier is not a reason to break it.

Questions people actually ask

Is QRZ really free?

Yes — five QR codes, fifty counted scans each, no card, no trial and no expiry. A free code is the whole product: the full designer, every export format, and a destination you can change after it is printed. Paying lifts the ceiling; it does not unlock features.

Can I change where a QR code points after it is printed?

Yes. That is the entire reason a short link sits between the code and the destination. The printed pattern never changes; you edit the target and every future scan goes to the new place. Nothing has to be reprinted.

Do QRZ codes expire?

No. There is no trial window and no expiry date. Past the free scan ceiling a code still resolves — the scanner sees a short notice and is sent on — and the counter simply stops climbing. We do not disable a code you have already put into the world.

Does scanning a QRZ code need an app or an account?

No. Any phone camera opens it. The person scanning never signs in, never installs anything, and never sees QRZ — they land on your destination. Only the person who owns the code has an account.

What resolution can I export at, and in what formats?

PNG, JPEG, WEBP and SVG, from 512 up to 4096 pixels. The sizes are chosen for paper rather than screens, so a code holds up on a poster, a menu, a sticker or a package.

Can I put a logo in the middle of the code?

Yes, and the error-correction level is forced to H when you do. A logo punches modules out of the pattern; below H a logo-punched code scans unreliably in print, so the control locks rather than letting you ship something that fails on paper.

How is a QRZ code different from a plain QR code generator?

A static generator bakes the destination into the pattern, so the code is fixed the moment it is drawn. QRZ codes are dynamic: the pattern points at a short link you own, so the destination stays editable and every scan is counted.
